I just given a simple recipe of puran pola which made quickly and I make it like this and tastes deliciously sweet you can't say no to it.

Preparation time 3 hours

Cooking time 30 mins

Serves 4

Ingredients :

450 gm of Split Bengal Gram ( Chana dal )

400 gm of Sugar or Jagger ( as per the sweetness you need)

100 gm of whole wheat flour

100 gm of Refined Flour

100 gm of Rice flour

Oil or ghee for frying the poli (as per your quantity)

25 ml1/2  Nutmeg

Preparation :

1. Pick and wash the gram of given quantity.

2. Add just enough water to cook the chana dal on the pot .

3. Cook till water evaporates and gram becomes tender on a medium flame. Stir in between so it do not stick .

4. Add sugar or jaggery and cook until mixture becomes thick and mash the mixture for a soft filling.

5. Pass mixture through a seive while it is hot so that the mixture will come out smoothly otherwise while cool it gets hard and Add grated nutmeg.

6. Make a very soft dough with rice flour, wheat flour, refined flour, water and oil. ( Water can be added by interval to get dough perfect otherwise dough may get sticky or harder)

7. After making dough keep aside for rest 2-3 hours.

8. Make balls of the gram dal mixture.

9. Then take a small amount of dough and spread over the gram dal balls and roll out evenly.

10. Make a slight thick poli otherwise it may get broken while rosting.

11. Bake or roast on a dosa stone or thick griddle till done. Add oil or ghee for rosting. Ghee taste much good in poli than the ordinary oil. Turn over and bake the other side.

12. Serve it hot by applying ghee or butter on it.

Note :

1 You can add saunf powder( fennel powder) and elaichi powder (cardamom powder) for additional taste and smell in the stuffing.

2 You can add ghee in the stuff.

3 Make sure to get stuffing thick and smooth for soft Puran poli.

4 For a great healthier snack you can add pistachio power, badam powder and cashew powder.

5 Make sure the edges should be tightly sealed for not to spill out the stuffing inside the poli.
