Pulao with chilled yogurt
A tawa pulao is quick and great tasting recipe and is usually preferred from north india sauted with home herbs or spices or with pav bhaji masala. Tawa pulao can served with yogurt or traditionally called raita. i prefer to make it with little spicy so it taste great with chilled yogurt. It can be made with different cooking styles and masala varies for different people. but i like to cook with pav bhaji masala so it flavours authentic and takes us to a street food cooking.

Serves 3
Ingredients :
1 cup long grain rice or basmati rice (cooked)
1 medium onion, roughly chopped
2 medium tomatoes chopped
1 medium capsicum or green bell peppe roughly chopped
1 medium potato sliced cube
1 medium carrot ( optional)
1 tsp red chilli powder or ( as per spicy flavour )
1 tsp ginger-garlic paste ( adrak lahsan paste)
1/2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
1 tsp coriander powder (dhania powder)
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
2 tsp pav bhaji masala (optional )
2 tsp cooking oil or butter or ghee
few chopped coriander leaves or parsley
1 cup fresh peas boiled (mattar)
half squeezed small size lemon juice
salt as required
Preparation :
1 Place the tawa or pan on low medium heat . Add oil and add cumin seeds after the oil reaches hot. Once the cumin seeds splatters add onion and let it cook for 2 mins to bring the nice light brown colour then add ginger-garlic paste and saute it till raw aroma goes.
2 Then add chopped tomatoes, capsicum , potato and let it cook for few minutes till it cooks then add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder as per taste you require.
3 After the raw aroma of powders goes away add peas and let it cook for few seconds. Peas are already boiled so it doesn't take much more time to cook ( i use boiled peas which i store in a refrigerator and take it frozen when it is used ).
4 Then add pav bhaji masala , salt and cooked rice ( its better to use leftover cooked rice for tawa pulao for quick mix ) and mix it well.
5 Now at end add some coriander leaves used as a garnish and sprinkle some lime juice .
6 Serve with chilled yogurt or raita for more flavour or additional pickle and papad.
Health points :
1 Tomatoes are great source of vitamin C, potassium, folate and vitamin k.
2 Capsicum which is rich in vitamin C encourages immunities and prevents cell damage.
3 Curd helps improves digestion and helps release stress and anxiety.
This tawa pulao recipe is overall a good course meal which is quick in making for a busy everyday life people.
